Home-grown HFCL Limited has launched 5G Macro radio units today at the India Mobile Congress 2022. The first product in HFCL's 5G family, the 5G 8T8R macro radio units (RU) has been designed and developed completely by the company's indigenous R&D team to address India and global markets. It is a next-generation RU that has a compact form factor, and it provides energy efficiency, supports digital beamforming and zero-touch provisioning as well as being a key component in rolling out 5G networks.

The CEO of a telecom company told Business Today that for the rollout of 5G in Delhi, towers will need six radio units per tower and will require 10,000 towers in total. The same company needs 60,000 radio units for only Delhi, which is a big opportunity.

The company will invest around 4 billion Indian Rupees in the manufacturing of telecom equipment. The radio units will be made in Delhi and no decisions have been made yet on how many units the company plans to make. It is a big opportunity for them because they are not only going to provide radios for India but also for other countries.

This is the first time HFCL has partnered with Qualcomm on a product, and they say it will change the future of Wi-Fi 5g wifi. These new Open source Wi-Fi 7 Access Points will offer a range of increased speeds at 10 Gbps, latency under 2ms, and improved connection quality.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that India Mobile Congress 2022 will launch 5G at the event. The launch will also show demos of the unique use cases of 5G and is attended by Mukesh Ambani, Sunil Bharti Mittal, and Kumar Mangalam Birla.

Three companies, Reliance Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea, plan to introduce 5G services. Gautam Adani's company put in bids on the 5G spectrum auction.

When will these companies release 5G service? Here is our prediction:

A company, Reliance Jio has said it'll be rolling out 5G in 4 cities by Diwali including Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai.

Jio will work on rolling out 5G in every town, city, and small geographical region of the country by December 2023.

Sunil Bharti Mittal mentioned that the launch of 5G services will be implemented in the following 8 cities: Delhi, Varanasi, Mumbai, and Bangalore. Airtel is committed to reaching every home with its 5th generation network by March 2024.

Vodafone Idea seems to be taking time to adopt 5G technology. The network lacks 5G spectrum and it's not clear when they'll launch their services. It seems like the company is waiting for upgrades to their networks before making the transition to 5G.
